Current Joys | Volume 1

The definition of joy goes a little something like this...
1: the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires 2: a state of happiness or felicity and 3: a source or cause of delight.

With all that can go wrong in a day, week or month, with all the chaos and heartache that's going on in the world these days, it's so important that each of us take the time to find the joy in the every day. With that in mind, Beth, Crystal, Jess and I would like to introduce you to our brand new JOY themed Friday link-up.

The 4th Friday of each month we encourage you to share with us the things that are currently bringing you joy. It it makes you happy, brightens your day or simply puts a smile on your face, it's caused you joy and we want to hear about it. Here is what's currently bringing me joy...

This boy. I can't even tell you how much fun he has been this Summer. I didn't think I'd be the Momma dreading school starting but I am. 100%. I am going to miss this kid. We went to Open House for Pre-K and were the first in and I had to drag him out 45 minutes later. He said "I haven't seen every kid in my class yet". 4 days till he is back in the classroom and happy as can be while I'll be missing his sass more than I would like to admit.

Our love of books is always on display but when you add books with seasonal twists, well, CJ and I couldn't be more thrilled. We have far too many books but I. Can't. Stop. Buying. Them. I will tell you that if you look on Amazon, you can find some really great prices. We snagged 6 brand new books for less than $20.

Macie is 100% and so much fun! She has started "charging her sass" and sometimes she "overcharges" it and well, she just cracks us up. Connor will never have a sister so Mace is as close as it gets for him. I couldn't ask for a better "big sister". She keeps us on our toes and makes us laugh loudly... often.

I shared this recipe earlier this week and I'm concerned you may have missed it. Chicken and veggies, chopped, seasoned and baked for 15 minutes. It's ridiculously easy but beyond tasty. It's been added to next week's menu already. If a recipe takes me less than 30 minutes from start to finish, you know it's a good one!

I never imagined myself being a e-book kind of girl but when I finally figured it out and was able to download and instantly read 4 books in 2 weeks, I was sold. Now before someone calls me out, I will forever prefer a paperback over a Kindle but some of my wish list books are just hard to get a hold of. For example, the wait-list for a physical copy of The Good Girl was 18 deep but I accessed it on my Kindle for free with just 3 clicks.

As I look back on what's been giving me life and joy this week, I'm not one bit surprised that it's books, food and people. Add sleep and coffee and my life would be perfect!

What's bringing you joy?
I'd love for you to share with me something that's made you smile in the comments below.

Happy Friday Friends!
