Friday Faves: Legos, Books and Ice Cream

This week was so a welcomed week for us. We didn't have a ton of plans and were able to spend 2 full days at home doing whatever, whenever. My new plan of action for August, our last full month of Summer, is to spend at least 1 day at home. I think the summer has caught up with us and our entire family is nearly Summere-ed out. Here is a look at our week, the highlights and a few random thoughts.

I shared this donut on IG last weekend and while I wanted to devour it all, I ended up taking it home and napping so I didn't get to it. That was Saturday and then Sunday we were busy and I totally forgot about it. Come Monday, I wasn't really in the mood for it so... in the trash it went. While I know that's wasteful, I would rather trash it then eat something just because. While I'm not totally off sweets, I think this was a pretty good use of willpower. Now, if I can stay away from pizza and ice cream.

I'm sure I've said it time and time again but Connor is obsessed with Legos. He could easily play with them for hours and often does. Yesterday we got to spend an hour at a Lego Build-a-thon with our best girl Macie. I love when we can attend library events. Nothing makes my book lovin' heart happier than spending time in rows and rows of books. Bonus points for spending time with our girls!

If I'm not stopped, I am going to by every single book on our wish list. I created on both Amazon and Usborne so that when I want to gift a book to C or someone asks for a gift suggestion I have a list to reference. However, I am averaging 3-5 new books a month for no other reason that I just love reading new books with Connor. The problem is, I'm running out of space for them. This is our book caddy in the living room and as you can see, it's full! How do you store your books? I need easy access.

We are so proud of our little guy and his swim lessons. This week we spent the afternoon at the pool with friends and this kid was all over the place! He was jumping off the edges, swimming under water, floating around, going up and down ladders and playing in the kid zone without a bit of fear. I love that he loves being in the water. With just 4 weeks of Summer left, I plan to make pool dates a weekly occurrence around here.

While I may have been able to say no to the donut mentioned above, ice cream is something that I can't say no to this time of year. Lucky for me, I was given the chance to try ARCTIC ZERO*. When the mood for something sweet hits, I grab a bowl and put my sweet tooth in its place. ARCTIC ZERO is probably the healthiest ice cream I've ever had and yet, it doesn't taste like cardboard. I've had those, too, and yuck! My favorite flavors are Cookie Shake, Cake Batter and Salted Caramel. This ice cream is GMO free, lactose free, has a low sugar content but is high in both protein and fiber. Which works well for me since while on WW, I need to pick foods high in both to help keep me full. When an ice cream can do this for you, there's no way I can pass it up. ARCTIC ZERO Fit Frozen Desserts Pints are available to purchase at select Target® stores. ARCTIC ZERO is also available at natural and traditional grocers nationwide, including Albertsons, Kroger, Publix, Sprouts Farmers Market, Safeway, Walmart and Whole Foods Market as well as online at and To find a store near you, visit:

We don't have a lot going on this weekend compared to previous Summer weekends. We have a birthday party on Saturday afternoon and a date night Sunday. I'm really hoping to get 2 long walks in and maybe a nap. Naps are my new weekend thing.

Happy weekend, friends!
