Friday Faves: Elections, Christmas Movies and Stitches

Holy smokes what a week it's been!? Not only did America choose a new president but I was solo parenting a very active, talkative, needy 4 year old. Why didn't anyone warn me that year 4 was going to be so dang hard?! We are only 12 days in and I'm already waving my white flag. But I have an entire year ahead to complain about raising a 4 year old teenager so I won't do that today. Instead I'll focus on the positive because there's gotta be a silver lining in all this madness, right? Here are a few highlights from our week and some random thoughts thrown in there as well.

I started my Uninvited study this week and with just 40 some pages, I am blown away buy what I've taken away from it already. With so much that goes on with raising babies, taking care of a home and being a good wife, it's easy to forget that we have weaknesses and things that we suffer with. I don't always feel as if I'm left out or uninvited but there are some relationships that leave me feeling left out more times that I'd like to admit. I'm really hoping this study helps me come to terms with those relationships and maybe even repair them a bit.

Confession: this show is my newest obsession. I didn't watch Ben on Season 20 of the Bachelor but I did watch last year's season with Jojo so I'm familiar with Ben. Until this show I thought maybe he was a jerk but I have to admit: I love Ben. Lauren? Not so much. She annoys me to no end. I wish I could just turn off this hot mess of a show but I can't. I won't.

Connor and I took a road trip to see my baby brother earlier this week. He is attending grad school at Ohio University. We had big plans to tour the college, play at the park near campus and spend time with each other. However, I ended up hurting myself on the playground equipment which landed me in the ER with 6 stitches. I am a bit sore today but am okay. I'll have stitches for 14 days and then have them removed from my family doctor. But the moral of the story: don't play with your kid on playground equipment .. it's not safe! Kidding of course! Well maybe not.

We don't have cable so I don't get to overdose on Christmas movies anymore which is pretty pathetic if you ask me. But I recently noticed that our Apple TV has the FreeForm app. I didn't realize until cicking on it that FreeForm used to be ABC Family which means I know have access to 25 Day of Christmas. You can best bet that I've marked in my planner particular shows that we are going to watch -- Elf, The Polar Express and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation are a must. One that we are going to watch for the first time is The Nightmare Before Christmas. Connor mentioned wanting to watch it but I'm unsure if it will be scary. It's scheduled for a 3:35PM showing so I'm hoping it doesn't scare him since it won't be a late night viewing. Here is the full list of shows; be sure to watch a few with us!

I feel like I need to talk about the election. I don't want to talk about who won or who didn't nor will I share who I wanted for president -- that's all in the past. What I will say is this: I hope that our new president puts our country first. That he remembers why he fought so hard to be in office. When we get to elect a new president in 2020 James and I will be parents to an 8 year old. WHAT IN THE WORLD?! That is so much time to make or break our country. For the sake of our children, for America's future, I pray that our country is bettered by this president.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. - Lamentations 3:22-23

Our weekend includes... DECORATING FOR CHRISTMAS. We have busy weekends ahead of us so we've decided to put up our tree and decorate this weekend. I am not one bit mad about because #SantaStephanie is back, friends! Here is a recap of what we shared Monday thru Thursday this week:
