For Father's Day this year, James wanted to visit a local amusement park. We made plans to meet my brother-in-law and niece and nephew, who have season passes and love going (I think Sunday was their 4th or 5th visit of the season!). It's been 10+ years since I had been to Kings Island and even longer for the Mister. Connor has yet to visit such a huge park so this was going to either be amazing or completely awful. You never know with little ones, you know? But Connor totally surprised us by completely rocking it. We spent 7 hours in 90+ heat and not once did he complain. I'll let the photos I snapped do the talking.
He hated it, right? We spent the bulk of our day in Planet Snoopy. While this area is designed for little ones, my 14 year old niece and I are still "small" enough to ride some of the rides in the area. I have to admit, I am not a fan of roller coasters so these kiddie ones are perfect for me. Sad but true. Planet Snoopy is Charlie Brown themed and since our love of Chuck runs deep, I had to snap a few photos of the park's theme.
The characters walked around too and while we were able to snag a photo with Snoopy, we missed Charlie Brown who is our favorite. Maybe next time. By mid-afternoon, the big kids wanted to ride the water rides and C didn't meet the high requirement for all of them so he rode one, cooled off and then he and I hung out in the shade while they got to ride a few more things.
Connor had the best ride in our blue folding wagon. If you have little ones or kids that play sports and need to carry all the things, pick up one of these folding wagons from Sam's. It was a lifesaver and plenty big enough for C and our bag. And before we left, we had to stop and get the famous "blue ice cream". I think it's a blueberry flavor, but can't say because I've never had it. I'm a chocolate vanilla twist kind of girl.
We had a really great Father's Day and were so proud of how well Connor handle the long lines and hot temps. I'm not sure if we will make it back before Summer is over but I think it would be fun to go again in the Fall when it's not so warm outside. When I asked Connor what he favorite part of Kings Island, he couldn't narrow it down to just one thing so I think it's safe to say he had a great time.
