My Funny Valentine: Valentine Swap

Connor loves telling jokes. He equally enjoys you telling him jokes. With that love in mind, I knew what we would do for Valentine's Day this year for our special valentines. When a group of blogging Mamas put together the idea of a Valentine swap, I knew this would be the chance we needed to spread some toddler appropriate love themed jokes this holiday.

Finding jokes proved to be the easiest part of this craft thanks to a quick Pinterest search. I put together the idea of sponge paining after searching online for a bit but wanted to incorporate a heart someway. Thanks to the Dollar Spot at Target I was able to score heart-shaped cookie cutters for a buck. I simply traced the heart on the each sponge and used scissors to cut the heart out. We pulled our pink and red paint from our craft kit and we were ready to go.

Crafts aren't my specialty but we had a ton of fun putting hearts on our cards. Connor asked who each card was for and would then ask what joke we were going to give each child. I let him pick the jokes out and these are the ones that he liked best.

Are these not the best (corniest) jokes ever? It's been 2 weeks since we completed our cards and Connor is still asking me to tell him the pickle, elephant or bat joke. We attached a joke into the inside of each card using (my favorite go to) washi tape.

While Valentine's Day is a low-key occasion in our home (dinner in with loved themed kids movies is planned this year), I had a enjoyable time with Connor, explaining the holiday, what a Valentine is and how it's a chance to tell our family and friends we love them in a cute, funny way. Feel free to visit the other mamas who participated in the Valentine's Day card swap. You will love the ideas shared and maybe even find a new way to celebrate the holiday with your little ones.
