Our New Family Tradition

One thing I've always said I would do as a Mom would be to start and continue traditions. I don't have many from my childhood that I can recall and I'd like for Connor to grow up, remembering that year after year, we did this, that or the other. These traditions don't have to be over the top or fancy. In fact, I'd love for them to be anything but. With that in mind, James and I decided this would be the perfect year to start a new family tradition.

When we were putting this together, as Connor ate more candy than he applied to the house, James and I both discovered we had never put together a gingerbread house. And just like that a new tradition was born. And of course the OCD in me said out loud "We should do this the last Sunday of November every year". Just let it go, Stephanie. Let it go!

But our family of 3 had such a good time Sunday evening putting this cute little candy house together. Can I say that we had the biggest mess? I had icing all over the place and Connor was eating pieces of candy left and right. James had a blast with the fondant. And when all is said and done, I think we created one rockin' gingerbread house.

With Christmas just weeks away, I'm really looking forward to creating new memories along the way. Ones we can recreate and enjoy again and again years to come. What are you family traditions? I'd love to hear what you do. Maybe I'll steal an idea or two.
