Countdown to Christmas : Bookworm Style

Happy December! It's officially the first day of December and that means it's time to being our Christmas countdown. There is nothing I love more than celebrating the holiday with family and friends. Becoming parents gives me the push to find fun new ways to enjoy the holidays along with ways to make counting down till Christmas fun for a 3 year old. This year, like we did in 2013, we are going to countdown to Christmas in style, bookworm style that is!

Reading is a huge deal in our house. Connor and I read books throughout the day and then he picks 2-3 books to read at bedtime. We go to story time at our local library on a weekly basis and we have "school" an hour or two a day that allows us to read one book and have a lesson based off that book's theme. Connor's taste in books is maturing so this year I was challenged to dig a bit deeper to find books that would keep his interest. Here is a look at some of the books we've wrapped and have waiting for him.

Connor has recently discovered the Mittens series and he is obsessed with that kitten. He also decided that he has to have all the Daniel Tiger books. Good thing Santa listens to such desires. I am really looking forward to reading these and many others to him this December. I chose a lot of the "I Can Read" level 1 books so that we can start working on word recognition, too.

How do you count down the holidays? Have you done the children book method? It takes a bit of prep time but it's totally worth the excitement of discovering a book together at bedtime each evening.

And don't forget to join in on your Christmas Photo Challenge. Save the image below with daily prompts and start snapping and sharing your photos with us on Instagram and/or Facebook. Use #2015ChristmasMoments so I can share in your holiday. I can't wait to your Christmas in action.
