WILW :: Pete Scobell Band + Giveaway!

When James and I started dating, one of the things we instantly realized we had in common was our love of music. Neither us play but James can sing. Me? Not so much. But that doesn't keep me from appreciating musicians and their talents. Before becoming parents we used to head downtown and listen to local bands play at our favorite pizza place, Oregon Express. We are huge fans of concerts and in the last 8 years, I've averaged at least 2 every year. It's safe to say, I'm a music lover. I pride myself with finding up and coming artist and claiming them as mine. Today I wanna share one of my newest finds with you and give you a chance to win a signed copy of his CD for yourself.

The Pete Scobell band's album Walkin A Wire is full of storytelling and emotion. Scobell is a Navy SEAL, competitive skier and athlete, mountain climber, inspiration and advocate. I don't know what it is about an artist that is more than just music - you know, someone who has lived a thousand lives - but they get me. With their life history playing out in music, I find myself "reading" their honest, open book. "Dive Bar", "Hearts I Leave Behind" and "Disappear" are my top 3 favorites from the album.

I've often wonder how someone, much like Scobel, finds his way back to music and his story is one filled with pain, suffering and growth. During one of his many tours of duty overseas, Pete suffered a traumatic brain injury. During treatment at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, his doctors urged him to play music - something he had done as a hobby most of his life - to heal. Walkin A Wire was created from one individuals life experiences; the result is true country music. Here is Pete Scobell Band's music video for "Wild".

Many people suffer unimaginable losses, some experience physical pain and suffering that's beyond comprehension. Walkin A Wire is the result of when one man turned his stories into music. When I think of how I share my life with others, the good and bad, I often think of this blog. I use Wife Mommy Me to share our blessings with others as well as keep a daily reminder of what's important to me as a wife, mother and individual. This is my place to celebrate, vent, share, wonder and so much more.

Because I love the story behind Walkin A Wire, I have a signed copy of the CD up for grabs for one lucky listener. In the comment section below, share the answer to one of these 3 questions (the more you answer the more points you earn):
  • What was the first concert you ever attended?
  • What was the first song you remember learning all the words to?
  • What is your all-time favorite album?
