Do you know what today is? National Trail Mix Day. What better way to kick off the week than with a perfect snack like trail mix? I could live on the stuff but because that's probably not the best idea, I don't. Lucky for me, Connor loves it too so it's an easy on-the-go snack for us to share. When putting together the perfect toddler and mom approved mix, I stick with things that both of us like, that pair well together.
Before I share the "complicated" steps of assembly such tastiness, I thought I'd give you a brief history lesson on trail mix. According to Wikipedia (which is where I get 98.9% of all needed info), Hadley Fruit Orchards and Harmony Foods (two California growers) claim that trail mix was first invented in 1968 by two California surfers who blended peanuts and raisins together for an energy snack. However, trail mix is also mentioned in Jack Kerouac's 1958 novel The Dharma Bums as the two main characters describe their planned meals in their preparation for a hiking trip. Regardless of exactly who discovered this perfect combination, I am happy they did.

This is the tough part... put each ingredient listed in the container. Secure the lid and shake to mix up the items. Keep covered and enjoy when you are craving a sweet yet salty snack.
This recipe lasted about 6 days between Connor and I. When on the go, I would fill our Re-Play snack cup up and hit the road. When the afternoon munchies hit, we had the perfect snack! Be sure to PIN this quick and easy snack idea for future reference.
