It's The Little Things: Splash Pad Fun

Yesterday was filled with checking off one task after another on my to do list. While putting laundry away, Connor quietly asked if we could go to the park. I know that there will come a day when he is far too cool to hang out with Mom so I dropped the laundry, grabbed our bag and hit the road. If there is anything I've learned from being a Momma is that you have to seize every moment you can.

As soon as we got to Connor's park of choice, I realized that we hadn't planned for the splash pad to be up and running. But did that stop us from enjoying an afternoon of water fun? No it didn't. While Connor played, splashed and kicked water at me, I realized how much fun this "surprise" was for Connor.

For once, I hadn't planned accordingly and running through the water in his "play clothes" was more fun than he could handle. He didn't need his trunks or swim diaper. He needed a chance to be a kid, to play in the water with his Momma.

Sometimes I get caught up with needed things to be uniformed. For each and every task be done just right. But yesterday Connor taught me that sometimes it more fun to enjoy an afternoon of water play in your regular clothes instead of worrying about how you're gonna get home without getting your car soaking wet. Because in our world, we need more little things. More moments of spontaneity. More chances to just be.
