What Brings Me Back to Ohio

Last week, I shared a short list of things I'm going to miss about living in central Texas. Moving from a warm climate like Texas to the cold and chilly one Ohio offers takes a lot of gusts. Especially at the end of January. As much as Texans love Texas, I truly love being in Ohio and can't wait to get back.

+ having family and friends nearby
+ Fall weather
+ good drivers
+ grocery shopping at Krogers
+ built in sitters with grandparents and aunts and uncles
+ Skyline Chili
+ spending afternoons with my Mom
+ a less expensive cost of living
+ snowy days spent indoors
+ amazing pizza options
+ day trips to Columbus and Cincinnati
+ watching Connor play with his cousins
+ spring rain showers
+ Subby's lunch dates with Dean and Mae
+ light traffic
+ The Boonshoft Museum
+ watching football games with my Dad and brothers
+ never missing a family gathering/holiday

Ohio was my home for 30 years. And while there are plenty things that drive me nuts about the Buckeye state, I will say that nothing makes me happier than raising Connor among our family and friends. I want him to feel and see their love daily, the same way we did growing up.

  2. I grew up in central Indiana near Indiana/Ohio border. I have moved to northern Indiana. I try to get Skyline every time I go home. They don't have it up here. And I love the Boonshoft Museum! I used to take my daughter there for their special programs during the week. It was a bit of a drive, but worth it every time.

  3. I don't know about the skyline part of the Chili but now I could totally go for Chili. I have a good chunk of family in Ohio but Idon't know most of the specifics you mention looking forward to. But how exciting! It's been a while since I've been back to visit. Mostly went as a kid. I loved the snow and the houses. So different than what I knew. And all the cousins.

  6. That's awesome you be close to family and friends again. We've talked about moving to a different state but I refuse to be more than an hour away from our parents/siblings.

  7. I've said it a million times, and I'll say it again: I'm so jealous you're going home.
I literally laughed out loud at the "good drivers" bit. I feel the same way about here versus home. And the never missing a family gathering/holidays.
So happy for you guys to get back home!!
