My Goals for 2015

Happy January 1st! I can't believe I'm seeing 2014 in the rear view mirror. Like everyone, we had highs and lows but overall, 2014 treated us well. While 2014 was a good year, there is most definitely areas that we can work on in 2015. I've created 6 areas that we will be focusing on both as a family and personally.

Health & Wellness :: I want to lose 32 pounds in 2015. Breaking that down over 12 months results in a loss of 2.6 pounds per month. I've done that before and plan to do it again. If I'm being completely transparent, I could stand to push that number up to 37 pounds but I picked 32 because I'm 32 years old. Transparent and weird, that's me. So maybe 37 will be my stretch goal.

Financial Freedom :: Going from two incomes to one was difficult. Factor in moving to a more expensive home/city/state and we have debt for the first time in years. 2015 will allow for us to get some if not the majority of the debt paid off. Moving back to Ohio in the home we already own will free up a little over $800 a month in our housing payment alone. Imagine what can be paid off or save if someone just gave you an extra $800 a month.

Personal Growth :: I want to push my limits this year. I want to grow as a wife, mother, friend, daughter and sister. I want to be the best Stephanie I can be. I have a few insecurities that I'd like to work on and through. I want to look back on the year and a whole and know that I am more of who I was meant to be as a person. I want to LOVE who I am.

Indulge in my Hobbies :: A few things that I enjoy and find passion in is running, reading, blogging and the arts (movies/musicals/concerts/theater). In 2015, I want to enjoy a little bit more of each on a fairly regular basis. I want to step up my running game. I want to ride another 30 books. I want to grow and branch out as a blogger. It's been a while since we've seen any type of performance (a movie in a theater counts ... it's been so long), I would love to make time to have a date night that included a show or concert. Something fun!

Create Family Memories :: One thing that worries me about moving back to Dayton is that we are really active here in RR. There is so much to do with a little one, indoors and out, that I'm hoping to continue that active lifestyle when we move north. Additionally, C is at the age that he remembers things and enjoys day trips that include explorations and fun activities. I have some ideas of what we can do back home but my number one focus is to be a family full of action and memory making.

Organization :: Nothing shows you how much crap you have like a move across the country. I have started the purging process already but I want to declutter our lives and bring back a more simple way of life. Less junk and stuff and more space and freedom. My thought process so far this move is if we haven't used it since living in Texas (2 years), odds are we don't need it. I plan to donate or give to friends and hopefully, our move back home will be filled with less unused goods allowing for more space in our smaller home.

While I feel like I'm taking on a lot in 2015, I want to push and challenge myself to one of our best years yet. Ideally, I want to be able to look back on 2015 and celebrate all we have accomplished, knowing that we gave our all every day, week and month. That we took a fresh new year and made the very most of it.

What are you goals for 2015? What are you most excited about in the New Year?
Happy 2015, friends!

  3. I feel like your goals are great ones and totally attainable ones. I don't like to set new years resolutions because I feel like I always break them, so I like to set goals instead (I don't know why but they are different to me and I feel like I can attain goals but not resolutions. weird i know). A lot of your goals are on my list as well! We can do this!
