Friday Favorites :: January 2

Happy 1st Friday of 2015. I'm currently watching the OSU/Alabama game (stressing!!) while Connor sleeps and Coxy drives back to Ohio. Life is crazy right now. It's a good crazy though. We are knee deep in boxes thanks to our move and the weather here in Austin is cold cold cold. Way cooler than we are used to. So I'm fearing cabin fever is going to hit us hard over the next couple weeks and well, Momma can't have that. And instead of obsessing over things I can't control, I've decided to sit down, watch some football and blog a bit. Since it's Friday here in blogland, that calls for a little Friday Favorites so that's what I'm going to share today. Some (very random and quite frankly all over the place) favorites.

ONE

I take a lot of photos of C. If that's news to you, then you clearly don't follow me on Instagram or Facebook. As often as I wonder "do folks really care to see more of Connor?", I quickly say "of course they do" because I mean, really... Connor is the bomb.com. But when I was cleaning and organizing my computer files and photos this week, I can across some that I forgot I took and instantly feel in love with them all over again. Connor is either being a total clown or refusing to pay me one bit of attention. #thestruggle

  TWO

I'm totally geeked for all that is going on in the blog community this year. I came across a new blog on a day when the writer was sharing a 2015 blogging challenge and instantly knew this was going to be a new favorite blog/blogger of mine. Kenzie from Chasing My Extraordinary is hosting a 12x30 Challenge and it's made for anyone who likes to tackle a different challenge month to month. You can find all the details in Kenzie's annoucement post. I'm really excited to tackle this challenge in 2015. Maybe you'll join me?

THREE

I'm focusing hard on spending less this year. My biggest weakness is buying things for Connor. While packing up some of his bedroom and the majority one of his playrooms (dude has two.. wth?! I didn't have one growing up and I shared a room with my brother), I realized Connor has far too much. I am really going to work diligently on only purchasing needs this year, instead of wants. Having said that, I do plan to splurge on matching scarves for the little guy and me. I have my eye on Beth's Etsy shop and once she has a fabric that works for the two of us, I'm snatching two up. And because it's cold in Ohio and Connor doesn't have a scarf, this is a need and not a want. See how I work myself into purchases?

FOUR

I started (yet another) weight loss adventure yesterday. While yesterday was just one day, I truly believe it's just one good day followed by another then another that adds up to seeing changes and losses. I'm using MyFitnessPal. It worked for me once before and I know that if I watch what I'm eating and enter it into my app daily, I'm less likely to eat like shit. In one day, I noticed I eat a whole lot of carbs. I need to find substitutions for the carbs. For me it's very simple: less carbs = weight loss. What's your go to carb free snack?
FIVE

I am a member of a Facebook group called #instamomlove. It's a group of Moms that have meet through Instagram but decided to take their relationship to Facebook where we can communicate a bit more. We ask questions, share fun Mom stories/experiences and just support each other. If you'd like to join us, we'd love to have you. Think of it as a online Mom group! And ya'll know how I feel about "our village".

Enjoy this first weekend of 2015! C and I have big plans that involve Ulta, a train table and naps. I can feel the jealousy!
Happy Friday!

  8. My husband uses My Fitness Pal and loves it- until he realizes how much crap is in everything he eats! While I'm trying to eat healthier, there are just some things I'd like to be willfully blind with!

  9. So much good stuff in this post. I love it! I'll have to check out that challenge. I've heard others mention it so I'm interested to see what its all about. I'm also excited to check out Beth's shop because some of the posts on IG have looked amazing. I'm trying to curtail shopping too but I may need to make an exception on that one!

  10. So many wonderful favorites! The weather has been rather chilly here too (dipping under freezing) and it would be so cute to have matching scarves with my son :D I am so with you on spending -- I have been buying way too many unnecessary things and need to cut back. Thank you so much for sharing the 12x30 Challenge! That means so much to me and I am so beyond thrilled that you are excited about joining in!! Yay!
