The Golden Vlog - Part 2: Thanksgiving

I recorded yet another vlog. Somehow, I use the phrase ya'll like I'm from the south and I noticed it in today's vlog. Someone send help, I'm slowly becoming Southern.
I love the idea of a little recorded Q&A. While I'm not 100% comfortable in front of a camera nor do I think I make a lot of sense sometimes, there is something liberating about recording a vlog and then posting it on the world wide web for every Tom, Dick and Harry to watch. As unnerving as it was to record and share my first vlog, this months wasn't as painful. I went with my second take and thought, this is as good as it gets. Also? I say bullshit. My bad.

I've answered the following questions in this months vlog:
  1. What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
  2. Do you travel to be with family or do they come to you?
  3. Do you have the traditional Thanksgiving dinner or something different and unique? If so, what is it?
  4. What's the must have item for Thanksgiving dinner?
  5. Do you decorate for Christmas Thanksgiving weekend?
  6. Are you a Black Friday shopper? If so... do you go crazy early or sleep in and miss the crowds?
  7. Have a favorite recipe? Care to share?
  8. What are you most thankful for this year?

  1. Oh my gosh!!! My mother in law makes oyster dressing and yes..I would agree it's disgusting! Lol! My husband loves it though...weird! Lol! I also agree that thanksgiving should be reserved for family and not shopping! Glad you will be able to spend thanksgiving with your family next year. LG and I love away from family and it is a life experience when you aren't close. You have to be each other's family but like you..I think that has only brought LG and I closer! :) thanks for linking up again!! Loved it!

    1. I never tried it... the name alone was enough to make me sick to my stomach. We will get to spend the majority of 2015 with friends and family and I'm so excited.

  2. Oyster dressing... blech. My hubs' extended family makes oyster stew for Christmas and it makes me want to barf. I do Black Friday with my mom every other year when we're there for Thanksgiving. My mother in law and I sometimes go out when I'm with their side on the opposite year, but not to the extent my mom does. I really could eat dessert all the time! Great vlog!

    1. I am a total sweets person. I eat very lightly during dinner and then stuff myself with sweets.

  3. Love it. We have been talking a lot about traditions now that we have kiddos. Great thoughts to think about. I looooove Thanksgiving, especially the left overs for days!!

    1. We have started a few since having Connor. I want him to grow up knowing our traditions and connecting certain things to holidays.

    1. I show all the respect to the Turkey... it's like he (it is a he, right?) is totally overlooked and that's not fair.

  5. I hate that stores are open on Thanksgiving and always feel bad for the people that have to work that day. I also don't go out on Black Friday, the thought gives me anxiety, I do 90% of my shopping online from work or home which is SO MUCH EASIER!

    1. I think I'm going to go this year just for the fun of it. I don't have any expectations for buying an "it" toy for Connor or anyone else. I think I'll just do it for the experience with friends here.

  6. Awww I love Charlie Brown Thanksgiving! I used to watch it every year! And I'm with everyone else, oyster dressing? Doesn't sound good at all! Awwww I love that you will put up Christmas on Thanksgiving night so Conner can wake up and enjoy it!

  9. My husband and his family love oyster dressing, but I have to pass since I'm allergic to shellfish (this does not make me sad!). And as a born and bred Southerner, I'll leave you with this: embrace the Southern accent! Embrace the "y'all"! :) :)

  11. I love this! All of my family is on Georgia and we live in Wisconsin. My husbands family is here, but we are not very close, so I always get homesick and miss our huge dinner. But I don't travel on thanksgiving, so we spend it at home. I don't do shopping unless it's online either. It's a fun couple of days at home

  13. Aw, I love this. The 'y'all'… Kills me every time. :) Don't think I won't call you out this weekend when you say it. ;)
P.S. Oyster dressing. No.Thank.You. Now please pass me another piece of pie (because that's the best part of Thanksgiving dinner, obviously).

  14. Oh my gosh, so I finally had time to watch this and I just love it! Makes me so excited to see you girls this weekend! Also, SO agree. We could totally skip the dinner and go straight to dessert. LOVE. I love Thanksgiving food but love dessert far more. Oh and they don't put me in charge of anything either because I CAN NOT cook to save my life. But I am in charge of dessert :)

  15. We don’t really have any Thanksgiving traditions either. We normally go to Nate’s Grandma’s house in the early afternoon, back to Nate’s parents and then to my parents. That evening we usually hang out and look at Black Friday ads (although we never go!). We usually do the traditional Thanksgiving…but if my moms family gets together it’s usually after Thanksgiving and we’ll do something different. Usually by that time everyone has had several traditional dinners by then. We’ve done Italian & Mexican as an alternative. And we normally visit the Christmas tree farm the weekend after Thanksgiving and get our real tree & decorate. I just love this time of year. Your video is great. I haven’t had the nerve to vlog yet. I can’t stand my voice on camera! ha
