Sunshine Blogger Award

Back in October, my sweet lady friend Desiree nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Now that Fall has finally arrived, the sun is hit or miss in these parts so what better time to spread some sunshine than with today's post. Have you heard about the award? It's a way to spread positivity, encouraging words and in general just a fun way for my readers to get to know me a little more.

Here are the 10 questions Desiree offered up for me to answer:

For purely selfish reasons, what is your favorite go-to dinner dish? I've long since run out of new, easy, good recipes, and looking to add to our weekly staple rotation! This is so easy for me to answer. I love this easy Chicken, Potato and Green Bean dish. It's quick to prepare and cooks in the oven in an hour. James and I love it and Connor, well he is 2 and doesn't like much.

When someone asks for a book recommendation, what is the one book you always suggest? In January, I read 'Me Before You' by Jojo Moyes. It's an amazing read. I loved every single minute of it. You will laugh, you will cry, you will go through the ringer with your emotions. Actually, everything written by Jojo is amazing. Check her out.

Name a talent you have that others probably don't know about. No talents but I take OCD to a whole new level. It's like in my DNA and Connor has inherited a bit of it so... that's interesting.

Sunsets or sunrises? Sunsets... I'm a morning person but not that much of a morning person so I love a good sunset. Something about the ending of one day and the start of another, allowing for a new fresh start.

The best way to unwind after a long day is… with a good book and a cozy blanket. I'm a total homebody and bookworm so ending the day snuggled up in a blanket, reading a book sounds heavenly too me.

Any guilty pleasures? Reality TV and celebrating birthdays. I have no shame in spending a week or more celebrating someone's birthday. It's just so much fun for me and I love making other feel loved.

What is a character trait you hope people associate with you? Honest. I try to be kind in doling out my opinion but I also want folks to know they can come to me for an honest answer, opinion or advice. The world is full of wish wash and I love knowing that I can be a point of honesty when friends and loved ones need it most.

Favorite words to live by? Be the person you want your children to be.

If you could go to dinner with any one person (alive or deceased) who would it be, and what are two questions you would be sure to ask them? Elvis - seriously. My two questions would be 1) Marry me? and 2) Does tomorrow work for you? I've been in awe of Elvis since I was a little girl. I know, it's strange but really, I would love to have been one of his groupies. Maybe even his favorite one.

The last concert you attended that you insist others must see, too. I hope you are sitting down... I've seen both Lionel Ritchie and Kenny Rogers and both put on an excellent show. Lionel makes it a party and Mr. Rogers is hilarious. If you have the chance and want to experience something outside your normal pick, both are highly recommended.

Your favorite blog post - be it yours, or a post written by someone else. Courtney, who blogs over at Shiraz In My Sippy Cup, shared some advice on parenting in THIS POST. While she isn't a parenting expert - who is - she gives some really great advice and food for thought. I know as a first time Momma, I would have loved to have heard most of this prior to welcoming Connor into the world.

And now, it's time for me to pass along the sunshine and nominate a some fellow bloggers:

Suzanna // One Hoolie Mama

Here are the questions for the ladies I've nominated:

What always makes you laugh?
Proudest Moment?
How do you like to spend your birthday?
Favorite junk food:
What did you want to be when you were little?
What did you actually become?
List 3 characteristics you admire in yourself:
All-time favorite movie?
Diamonds or pearls?
Are you a morning or night person?

And if you didn't get nominated, no worries! Answers the above questions and spread some sunshine yourself!

    1. On any given bad day, I will spend the hours between Connor going down and me heading to bed myself under a blanket with a good book.

    1. Seriously, it's ridiculous.
And I just think that if everyone was who they wanted their children to be, the world would be so amazing. I can't be wrong with that idea, right?

  3. Awww, thanks girl for the shout out! You are too, too kind. I love getting to know more about you! As for Kenny Rogers, have you seen him in that Geico commercial? It's so funny. I mean, I really laugh every. time. it comes on. But really, that is must-have information for life: you gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em. Preach Kenny.

    1. Girl, Kenny was amazing. And funny side story... James was being a smart ass and said he would love to go see him. I didn't catch on to the snarkiness and bought tickets and well, as luck would have it, it was one of the best shows EVER.

    1. I have been known to waste an entire nap time.. 2-4 hours sometimes... on nothing but reality TV. I'm an episode away from needing intervention.

  11. So I'm adding your dinner dish to my 'must make list' - and then making it tomorrow. For real. I have all the ingredients, and I need easy.
Also adding any and all Jojo books to "the list."
I hope you were able to catch an amazing sunset in SD this weekend!

  16. I saw Lionel Richie as part of an all-day music festival - so he probably only played for about 40 minutes - but he was AMAZING. I gush about him live any chance I get! John Fogerty was absolutely fan-freaking-tastic too!

    1. OH I'm sure John Fogerty would be amazing! I'm so open to who I'm willing to listen to/see live. I just love music and if you can entertain me for a couple hours, then we are good to go!
