{IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS} Family & Sunsets

If there is one thing I've learned about being a parent, especially a boy Mom, is that it doesn't take spending money or making elaborate plans to make your little one happy. You can simply take them on a hike, allowing them to explore, showing them the world in which they live in.

Connor ADORES the outdoors. So much so that I'm already freaking out on how I'm going to keep him happy and sane in the cold winters that Ohio offers its residents year after year. But while we are in Round Rock, where the sun is always shining, we take time to go on a hike, find rocks and take in beautiful views.

From family selfies to finding and saving seashells to collecting rocks to throw in nearby watering holes to reading a map, life with a little one is so much fun. While days can be rough and some nights are tough still, there is a sense of wonder in watching our child discover new things. On this particular day, Connor found seashells for the first time and a map? Well that just may be the first and last one he ever has to read for us.

At the end of a busy week with friends and family, it's the little things like an evening spent outdoors, enjoying a sunset with my guys to make me realize how blessed I am with the life God has given me.

  1. Gorgeous!!! That sunset is so beautiful. And what a fun day! I agree, as a boy mom, you don't need anything fancy for your kid to have fun. I swear Mason finds more enjoyment out of a box the toy came in anyway! He LOVES being outside too and luckily we walk across the street to the park often, but we need to take him to the beach to investigate. He would love it!

  3. Such a beautiful picture! Simple things can be the most fun. I realized that this morning as Henry thought it was pure joy to cut up a piece of paper with his scissors.

  4. So true! :] When I get really swamped/stressed out, I like taking a step back and trying to enjoy the little things, so that the rest of life won't seem quite so overwhelming!

  15. My daughter is just old enough to start enjoying the outdoors; she loves kicking leaves and picking up rocks. That's so great that you're instilling these values in your son! :)
