Fall Family Bucket List: Enjoy A Fall Drink

I was never much of a coffee drinker. The smell got to me a bit and I couldn't handle the bitter taste most drinks left behind. Then we decided to have a baby. A baby who is up at 7:15 every. single. day. without fail. One that matured into a 2 year that goes and goes and goes. So the rational thing to do was to pick up a speed coffee habit. While, I'm still new to the world of coffee, I've found that you can never go wrong with a White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks. And what goes better with a grande WCM with whip than a little train play at our local book store.

Connor loves visiting Barnes and Noble and playing with the train table. He could easily spend an hour just pushing Thomas, Percy and friends around the tracks. Momma grabs a coffee from the in-store Starbucks and reads a little while enjoying a hot coffee while little man plays. On our first visit, I browsed the kids books - HOLY SMOKES! there are tons to choose from - and found "Stephanie's Ponytail". Read it, loved it. I would say it's loosely based on a childhood experience.

When Thomas gets boring, we move to the Lego table and then spend 20-30 minutes "shopping" through their toy aisle. Can I tell you that C loves "shopping"? And the best part is, he doesn't lose it when I tell him to put such and such back on the shelf. He doesn't really expect me to purchase things for him, he just likes checking everything out. #childoftheyear

60 to 90 minutes later, I've finished my coffee and C is ready to head home for a snack/lunch/nap. It's the easiest morning ever and everyone is happy. Did you know that Barnes & Noble has children events at their locations? Coming up on December 1, our hometown location is offering Dr. Seuss Grinch Day with story time and activities. C and I will be there so "join" us. Check out their site and see if your local store is hosting a Grinch Day as well.

  1. Oh my gosh, this really does sound like a PERFECT morning!! I'm totally going to start taking Mia to Barnes and Noble (it will be a good excuse to get us out of the house this winter!!) I had no idea about the events... definitely going to look into that!

  2. I don't ever go to Starbucks unless it's to meet a client but when I do go I pretty much always get the white chocolate mocha. SO good!!!

  3. What a perfect morning! Did you know I used to work at Barnes and Noble? That's where Seth and I met. Thankfully I didn't have a kid then because I would have bought ALL THE KIDS BOOKS. In fact, when I quit, I actually bought some since I got such a good discount. Oddly enough, I bought girl books (because they were so cute) and then we had a boy. Go figure lol.

  4. I love B&N! That's so awesome that Conner just loves to "shop" without buying. I'm pretty sure H could spend 2 hours in the toy aisles at Target.

  5. Lol Stephanie you are so funny. I don't have kids yet, but we have 2 dogs that wake us up at 4:30 every morning, so I know your pain. Even though they go right back to bed after we feed them... so I guess it's not that bad. But still... Seriously though, there is no better combination than Starbucks and Barnes and Noble. Where I live there is store called Books A Million, and they have a knock off Starbucks coffee shop in the store, and it makes me sad because... it's just not the same :( #firstworldproblems. Thanks for linking up at Come Along Ponds!!!

  6. A few things here… I'd basically give by right arm AND leg if my child slept in till 7:15. Also, haven't tired the white chocolate mocha, clearly my life is incomplete. Lastly, totally going to check out our B&N to see if they're doing the Dr. Seuss event, too.

  9. That sounds like a perfect coffee date! And your kid lets you read while he plays out and about?! That's amazing!
