23 Months - 9.30.14

Connor J, you are something else. And we love every single bit of it and you!

I can't believe we are {THIS CLOSE} to celebrating your 2nd birthday but here we are! This month was more of the same with one big exception. You've been talking for a while now but man oh man, you are talking like a grown up. We have to watch what we say so so so closely because once you hear it, you repeat it. That includes the words damn it and shit. Yeah, that was fun. We've moved on from that and so far so good, no more sailor mouth. But at the same time, we can communicate with you 100% and it makes life much easier.

You are still a tiny little guy. I'm looking forward to the next month and seeing if we can get you to gain a little weight. You are hanging in there at 26 pounds. If I had to guess I would say you are close to 34 inches tall. You wear 18-24 month clothing and a size 6.5-7 shoe. I need to move you up to size 5 diapers but I'm trying to get through the size 4s we have before doing so.

Enough of that boring stuff. Let's talk about the funny things you say and do nowadays. You love going upstairs and use the word upstairs every chance you get. It's like you suddenly became aware that there is more to the house than just the living room and kitchen. You are obsessed with napping. You say "I take a nap", "Daddy take a nap in Daddy's bed" and every once in a while, "Mommy takes a nap". You are completely aware of nap time and bed time and don't fight us when its time for either. Daddy taught you this nose poking thing and coined it 'spider monkey' and you haven't stopped poking our noses and saying "spider monkey" since. Hearing a little one say "spider money" is pretty funny.

You have started really understanding what playing nicely and sharing means and it warms my heart to see you share your toys with others without them asking. You are a very empathic little guy even at such a young age. It's something that makes me proud to be your Mommy. You've also learned how to be dramatic and pout when you want something. Knowing you know that you are pouting on purpose makes me laugh. You do this thing with your eyes and lower your head. It's hilarious.

You've learned each of our names and use our real name daily. You call yourself Connie James Cox or Connie Cox. You call Daddy, Daddy James and although you know I'm Stephanie, that's too much so you decided to call me Momma James. In addition to using our names, you say "hi Mommy" or "hi Daddy" all. day. long. While your Dad has a more patience with this game, it does get tiring saying "hi Connor" 53 times a day.

You've been so much fun this month. You've made us laugh to the point of tears which makes the long days a bit easier to manage. You have a big heart and an even bigger smile. It's hard to imagine we are ever going to love you more then we already do.

We love you to the moon and back!
Momma and Daddy Papa

  1. Isn't life about a billion times easier when there are real words, and real requests? The guessing game days are over. #thankyoubabyjesus
    Momma James - I die.
Marcus and CJ would have a grand time together spitting, running, and playing with rocks. A boys three favorite things. :)

    1. What is it about rocks that kids love so much? He has to collect one from every park we go to. And in Austin, that's a lot of parks.

  4. He is so adorable! My daughter's just turning 16 months this week, and we're still in the tantrum-throwing frustration since she doesn't have a huge vocabulary yet. I'm looking forward to the day that she can actually talk with me, or snuggle up and watch a movie! :)

    1. We have ourselves a full blown talker... now the snuggling, not so much! He is much too curious to sit still for too long.

  5. Cute picture! Aren't kids the best? I almost feel like each age is my favorite, they're always doing something new or funny or adorable. :)

    1. The older Connor gets the more I think that every stage is a current favorite. Check back when the terrible twos or threes show up.

  9. So crazy that your little guy is just 5 or so months older than mine and it is a world of difference in their vocabulary! It is pretty crazy how quickly things change at this age. He's an absolute doll! Enjoy this last month with him as a one year old ;)
