In 60 Short Days

Next month, we will be parents to a 2 year old. Let me take a moment to collect myself...

How in the world is that possible? A TWO YEAR OLD!

Of course we knew it would happen. I mean, time doesn't stand still. Is this news to you? Well, sorry to be the barrier of bad news but it doesn't, no matter how much you beg and plead for it to.

In the last 2 years, James and I went from being a married couple to a couple expecting a baby to newbie parents to parents who answer to a little guy with a big personality and even bigger heart.

Along the way, we've fallen on our parental faces. We've figured things out by complete luck. We have learned that we have what it takes to be parents, to have a loving marriage, to keep ourselves happy along the way all the while hundreds and hundreds of miles away from family and friends.

So come October, we will celebrate our baby boy turning 2. Yes we will celebrating our son but also, we will take a night to celebrate us - I think that's called a date but nowadays, dates are hard to come by - because without loving one another, supporting one another, the last 2 years could have been rough.

Here is to the last couple of months of having an one year old. To being parents to a baby and not a big boy.

  1. I love that quote from that book! I don't think i've seen that baby C xmas picture before -- so cute and your hair looks awesome the way you pulled it back! Excited for C to turn 2 - it's a fun age (tantrums and all - although for us the tantrums were worse agges 20-24mo and have calmed back down a bit)

    1. I wear my hair like that almost daily. It's quick and easy and I'm not really "doing" it.

  4. It feels like just yesterday my little Miss T was born. In March we celebrated her 2nd birthday. It was bittersweet. Are y'all going to throw him a party? What are y'all's plans? I'm nosey. :)

    1. Girl, I'm the party throwing pro. We are having a small one this year and I can't wait. You'll have to keep reading WMM for the deets though as I keep those to myself until closer to the party day.

  10. Beautiful post! Love this. And yes - it's so easy to get caught up in focusing on the child that we can potentially forget about our partners so I love your take on it - celebrate your marriage along with C. Very cool!

And I can tell you, without Coxy, life would be so hard. I need to make sure he knows how much he does for us, how much he is appreciated.
