Inside a Momma's Purse

I recently transitioned from a diaper bag to a purse. Thanks to an almost 2 year old (what the what?), I no longer need the big bulky bag. Within weeks of carrying just a purse, I've realized that it will always be a mess and that I'll be carrying around some unique items thanks to a hectic lifestyle and Connor James.

I was prompted to write this post after searching my bag for my credit card. I have a horrible habit of just tossing my card in after using it instead of putting it back in my wallet.

Here is a run down of what I've been carrying around in this bottomless pit of a purse...

Diapers and diaper wipes for Frank's toot toot (that's what he calls his booty... kill me!).
Lip gloss and chap stick because some days that's the only makeup I have a chance to put on.
Sonic mints from last week's lunch.
Game tickets from when Coxy and I went to dinner a few weeks back and played ski-ball.
Coupons for Victoria Secret for my girlfriend.
Receipts from the dry cleaners and Target.
My wallet with my ID, debit card and frequent shopper cards.
Car keys, which are usually buried deep within this messy purse.
Random toys Connor has handed me - ball, car and Mickey. The staples of his world, really.
A tape measure ... for measuring inches lost from working out ... because we all know, I don't sew. Please notice how I haven't used it yet. Oy!
Chili's children's menu and the toy Connor got from Chick-fil-A that I had planned on turning in for an ice cream cone but didn't. #weightlossWIN
Gum for when I leave the house with dragon breathe from some funky breakfast or lunch I've just scarfed down.
Bath and Body Works hand sanitizer. I'm not a freak with germs but I easily go through one of these every two weeks. Even Connor asks to use it.
And finally, a hair brush for when I'm looking like a hot mess.

And that's what this Momma carries in her purse. I feel like I carry around a lot of stuff but I also always feel prepared for running quick errands with a little one. What's in your purse?

  1. I've been trying to carry around one bag too but can't seem to figure it out yet. Where do you keep snacks and sippy cups? That seems to be my problem, I can't go anywhere without them or my daughter has a freak out. ;)

    1. We actually don't take snacks with us very often as he doesn't do well eating out. But I still have a small book bag that Connor takes with him places. It has his diapers, wipes and random things he just has to have.

  2. Your purse looks a lot like mine! Except, I'm still carrying a diaper bag most of the time. Somehow, his stuff STILL ends up in my purse. haha

    1. My purse is usually a mess. It's seems like I have to clean it out more often than ever before thanks to having a little one.

  3. Luckily my daughters 4, so no diapers but I still carry a change of clothes for her because I know if I don't she'll spill something and I won't have anything to change her into. :) Usually some snacks, a book or toy for daughter, and then the usually wallet, chapstick, keys, receipts, etc.

    1. We have a container in my trunk that has come extra things, like a change of clothes, just in case we need them.

  5. I'm hating my purse situation. It's big it fits everything but I feel like it is either too full or too empty. I think I need some little bags to put inside so I can compartmentalize things, I'm big into that kind of thing. How do you use so much hand sanitizer? My mother in law got me like 3 for Christmas and I've barely used any from the two I have open and available. Smells great, maybe I should use it more just to smell nicer. And this reminds me that my brush fell apart on me a bit ago and I need a new one. Target!

    1. We use it before we go into every store and once we are back in the car. I use it after I wash my hands in public restrooms because I don't know what type of soap they are using. I'm a little odd, I'll admit.

  6. I've been meaning to do one of these posts recently too! I recently stopped using my diaper bag too because I found it to be too bulky for what I actually needed. Then I used my purse but found that I couldn't hold all of Mason's stuff. So now I use my Stella and Dot bag that I got and it works perfectly. It's technically a purse so it looks like one but is big enough to carry diapers and wipes and such :)

    1. A large bag/purse with pocket works wonderfully for this stage of our lives, too.

  7. This pretty much looks like my purse minus the baby stuff! I like to think of my bag as an emergency kit!

    1. Ahhh! If that's the case, you will just end up with a bigger, messier purse. Guaranteed.

    1. If nothing else, it makes you clean and organize your purse, so that's a plus!
