It's Unconditional

While most of you are sharing and reminiscing about the festive fun you had this weekend, I have nada to share about the 4th. Well that's not exactly true. Let me break down what our weekend was like:

High Texas mold counts + Connor + the nastiest snottiest nose this side of the Mississippi =
a weekend spent at home attempting to keep C's nose clean and applying lotion to an oh so chapped baby boy skin.

While this wasn't the most ideal way to spend the holiday weekend, it gave me a chance to reflect on how important it is to cherish the littlest things.

While Connor was suffering from the worst allergy attack to date, he still made us laugh. He was still his happy self. Full of energy, climbing, running and being all boy. Snot withstanding, Connor was our personal firework show all weekend with his quirky noises, his over the top antics and his sweet hugs, snuggles and kisses.

Connor is going to be back to his normal, healthy self soon and he won't be so quick to cuddle. He won't be as needy or want to sit with Momma or Daddy as often, as long. But it's the littlest things like a lingering hug or a belly laugh that makes the hard days easier to conquer.

I read this quote online this weekend and it rings so very true in regards to being a parent:

“What it’s like to be a parent: It’s one of the hardest things you’ll ever do but in exchange it teaches you the meaning of unconditional love.” -Nicholas Sparks

This little guy is our world. He is the reason we know the true meaning of love, unconditional love that when tested and pushed and stretched too thin, finds a way of staying strong, patient and never-ending.

  1. sorry he had an allergy attack over the long weekend - that's awful! Extra cuddles from these crazy hyper toddlers are always nice though :) I hope he's on the mend and feels better soon!

    1. He has taught me more in 20 months than I ever learned in the 29 years before he was here. Amazing!

  6. poor baby! sorry he didn't feel well. That really sucks to be sick on a Holiday. It was unseasonably chilly here on the 4th and it felt more like fall!

    1. I would love some chilly weather. We have to wait until close to November for chilly weather here in mid Texas.

    1. He is simply the happiest little guy around. People are always commenting on how friendly and smiley he is. I think it's because I keep him hopped up on sugar ;)
