My Best Photograph - #WMMPhotoFav

If you've been a fan of Wife Mommy Me long enough, you know that I've been trying my hand at photography. Simply put, I'm in love with photography. The best part for me is the hunt of taking that one photo that you can't help but share or better yet, print (what's that right?) and frame. I'll be quick to point out that I am not a professional nor do I think I have the skill to be one anytime in the near future. However, I am darn near obsessed with our little guy so I usually spend my days snapping photos of him which gives me plenty of practice.

I've taken nearly 7,500 photos of Connor in the last 18 months. More than enough to document his short existence. Most photos are blurry and out of focus because let's face it, getting a toddler to sit still is nearly impossible. And forget about having them look at the camera. God forbid!

But every once in a while, my desire and incredible determination pays off and I get a photo that I just adore. One that I think will forever be a photo that we cherish and share. To date, I think this is the best photo I've taken of Connor.

This was during Connor's first Easter Egg Hunt. He was running away from me (and my camera) and I pointed out to him that Dyllan (his best friend and Texas love) was right behind him. He turned around with the biggest grin and I just snapped my camera. I honestly think I just got lucky when it came to this photo. Luck or not, discovering this photo on my camera sent a thrill through me. I love the expression on his face. The cocked eyebrow is a trait he gets from his Daddy. I love the how big and independent he looks. More than anything, I love that smile. Nothing makes a Momma's heart skip faster than seeing joy on their child's face.

While my photography skills have a ways to go, I see the potential in my work when I look at this photo. Capturing our every day life is turning into a hobby along with the chance to one day share all of Connor's first and milestones through photos. My photos.

I was once told to always carry your camera with you. That you never know what you will have a chance to take a once in a life time photograph. I take that advice to the furthest limits and snap 15-20 photos a day. Mostly because I never know what I might end up with.

Do you have a photo that you just love? One that is a favorite to be cherish for years to come? Share that special photo with me on Instagram by using the hashtag #wmmphotofav. I would love to see your photos.

  1. thats a great connor photo!! Love it! My favorite new way (as in the last week or so) is to tell callie to look at x animal on mommy's head and make those animal noises -- she looks at the camera every time and almost always smiles :)

    1. I will have to try that trick with Connor. It's always fun trying to coax a toddler into enjoying getting their photo taking!

    1. Thanks! I've been working on getting one great photo from each session so that I have a good glimpse of how quickly he has changed month by month.

    1. I have my camera in his face far too often, I'm sure but I'm okay with it. He will thank me when he is my age and had endless photos to look through.

  7. Such a great photo! I take pictures of my kids all the time, but I don't have the eye for photography that my husband does. We frame our photos for the wall in the family room - the goal is to cover all the walls with photos.

    1. I have far too many to frame them all. I usually just frame the milestone months and a couple of my all time favorites. Does your husband consider photography a hobby?

  8. Well it IS a fabulous shot! I've always got my camera with me too, and take hundreds each week. I love love going through a 'roll' or whatever you want to call it digitally and finding a gem! Aria has just recently started smiling in pictures again, esp if I tell her to cheese..omg it is the best! Keep on snapping!

  9. That's a great photo! I'm so bad at sharing pics to Instagram. I should get on and share a picture since today is my Instagram Linky Party day!

    1. I share a lot on Instagram since some of my friends and family back home don't read my blog daily, just weekly when they can. It's a great way to capture every day life in one single shot.
