Must Watch Baseball Classics

While I'll admit that I a huge football fan, my second favorite sport is baseball. And with Opening Day just around the corner, I wanted to share my list of the top six must watch baseball movies of all time. By no means are the only baseball movies worth watching. They just happen to be my favorites.

I've watched each of these classic boys of summer movies over and over. The first one I can remember watching was The Sandlot:

Scotty Smalls moves to a new neighborhood with his parents with a desire to play baseball. The neighborhood baseball master Rodriquez takes Smalls under his wing and soon he's part of the team. Their days are soon filled with baseball, sleepovers, the lifeguard at the local pool and their rival ball team. Beyond the fence at the back of the sandlot, lies a threat in the form of a ball eating dog called The Beast, that the boys must overcome.

My favorite of the six listed, hands down, would be Field of Dreams:

An Iowa corn farmer played by Kevin Costner (swoon), hearing voices, interprets them as a demand to build a baseball diamond in his fields; he does and the Chicago Black Sox appear. Because as we all know... "If you build it, he will come."

Do you have a favorite baseball movie? What team to you cheer for during the dog days of summer? Mine? The Redlegs of course!

  11. Scott can't believe I've never fully watched Bull Durham or Major League. I've seen bits and pieces, but never seen them in their entirety.

  12. My favorite baseball movie is Fever Pitch! It was filmed the year the Red Sox broke the 86-year curse and won the World Series. Very cool. Plus, it has my man Jimmy Fallon in it!
