How To Back Up Your Blog

Remember when rumor spread that Blogger was disappearing? We all rushed to join Bloglovin so we didn't lose access to our favorite daily reads. What would happen if Blogger did disappear? What would happen to years of blog posts? The very thought of that stresses me out since the majority of Wife Mommy Me is an online baby book for Connor.
Knowing that I could lose all my content at any time, I backed up my blog this weekend. Backing up your blog will allow you to restore it if anything was to happen with Blogger.

Back up your Blogger posts and comments

1. From your blog click on the Design tab on the top right
2. Click on Settings and then Other
3. Under Blog Tools click Export blog

4. Click Download Blog and save the file to your computer

Your blog (posts and comments only) will be stored as a Blogger export file (.xml).
Let me know if you run into any issues. It's a simple process that will result in your having your blog on file in case Blogger decides to quit on us one day without warning.

  3. This is so incredibly useful. I pinned this. Will be doing it soon!

(By the way, blogger is incredibly useful for "backing up" Squidoo pages...when they started making changes that meant I would loose some of my pages there, I freaked. You have the ability to "back up" pages there too...but just the text, not the code (your links, pictures, etc). I found the ability to just highlight and copy the whole layout (pictures, links, ect...the only thing they couldn't copy were polls and video embeds) into a post AMAZING. Made a "storage blog" just for that. I'm sure it's cause a few a stolen content nightmares, but when you have a legitimate reason to quickly copy a page it's gold.

  4. I remember that little crazy moment. I've made use of the backup tool but I've also backed it up on my personal web host.

I definitely recommend that! Documented memories are a sad thing to lose and hard to get back.
