Green Smoothie for Those Who Hate Green

If you dine out with me or take a look in our fridge or pantry, you know I'm not a good eater. I like junk food. I like sweets. I adore pasta and pizza and tend to do so in large quantities. I don't like many green foods. And because this usually shocks folks, I hate lettuce. I think it tastes like dirty grass. Barf!

However, as much as I love food that fits into the "a second on the lips, forever on the hips" catagory, there are a handful of good, healthy foods I like. Smoothies is one of them. I love the sweet, yet healthy, taste they offer. They are typically easy to make or grab while out and about. My favorite is a good old strawberry banana smoothie. I've been thinking of how I really want to step up my game 2014 and make it a year that I'll never forget. One area I plan to focus a ton of my attention is our health. With that in mind, I went looking for a great green smoothie that provided me a large dose of tasty with a helping of green. I came across this pin and thought I'd give it a try.

Can I just tell you how tasty and GOOOOOD this Green Smoothie for Those Who Hate Green is? By the way, that's what I've named this smoothie. If you are someone that doesn't do healthy or green, this is the healthy and green smoothie for YOU!

Here is the rundown: 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 pack of vanilla yogurt, 1 apple diced, 1 banana sliced, 1 orange peeled and diced and 5 strawberries diced. Put all the items into your blender and blend until all the apples disappear. I popped mine into the freezer for a few minutes before drinking because I prefer my smoothies cold.

While there is a large amount of spinach in this smoothie, you can't taste the spinach at all. I promise! Give this a try and let me know what you think. Did you like it? Or do you already have a go to smoothie?

  1. This looks delicious. I was just thinking that I need to start smoothies again. I think this maybe one of the first ones I make.

BTW, this is a great way to get your kids some good veggies too. Our son loves "salad juice" :)

  4. I've been making almost the exact same thing for over a year now. They are delicious and Henry loves them too! A lot of times I will throw whatever fruit is about to go bad into a big container in the freezer for these. I found that you really don't need to cut anything but the apples up as well, the rest will pretty much take care of itself in the blender. I also usually ditch the yogurt and just add a little ice to make it extra cold with a little extra OJ if needed to thin it out.
