Catching Up

And breathe.
Lord, it's been a busy week and a half.

Life is busy. As always. It seems like the moment I think I have some time to relax, I find myself busier than ever.

We just got back from a mini vacation to New Orleans. James was there on business and CJ and I drove over midweek to spend some time with him. I tackled the solo 8 hour drive and survived. New Orleans was... well... okay. I don't know what to say about it really. I enjoyed parts of it, while other pieces left me thinking "Seriously? This is what people get so excited over?". I guess it's safe to say that I am old. And a Mom. And maybe even a little boring.

We purchased new furniture for the living room last week. It was delivered this morning and I love it. It was worth the 3 hours spent at the showroom. Our first Texas home is finally coming together. There are just a few things I need to do and the house will be done, put together just the way I want it (for now). If you have a furniture need and there is a Rooms To Go near you, check them out. We loved their selection and the customer services is top notch.

It's safe to say I am completely consumed with planning Connor's 1st birthday party. He is having one in Ohio, which is going to be pretty large and then a small one in Texas for our friends here. I want it to be perfect but keep telling myself it's just a party, he won't remember it and don't freak if it's not 100% the way you envisioned. So far coaching myself isn't working. I'm determined to give him the best birthday party ever.

To piggy back off that, Pinterest stresses me the f**k out. Seriously. After this party, I am done with Pinterest. I can't possibly compete with "those Moms". All I can say is thank God I have crafty and talented friends or I'd be sitting in a pile of fabric and ideas with no end in sight.

I hope ya'll are having a good week. I promise not to go MIA too much more. I really enjoy blogging and sharing our lives with our readers. The little piece of internet is a good therapeutic outlet for me. But damn it, if life doesn't get in the way sometimes.

  1. I am right there with you... What was probably fun for the 22-year old me (ie. NOLA) is most likely not going to peg my fun-meter.

We have seven months before there's a 2nd birthday party to be thrown and I'm already wondering what the hell the "theme" is going to be. Have fun with the party and try not to stress too much!

  2. I went a bit overboard with Hunter's 1st birthday, totally stressed myself out but I don't regret it, it was a big deal to me. However, I plan to do something MUCH smaller and less expensive this year. I do have a theme picked out but I think most things will be store bought and we'll probably just serve pizza or something simple.

  3. OK I already was loving your blog and your honesty but seriously I'm your #1 fan after your comments about pinterest!!! I hate that site and pretty much totally boycott it. I think it stops people from using their own mind creatively and just make the mom pressure horrible. Honestly you can totally plan the birthday party without it and I bet it will be totally amazing!!!
