Say What?!

At any given time, someone in my life says something that is totally off the wall. At times, it's so out of the blue or bizarre that you can't help but think odds are, that's never been said before. Need examples? My pleasure:
  • If I were a hooker, I'd get top dollar. I'd be the classiest one on Dixie. (Yes, honey, you'd make a wonderful hooker.)
  • Where is your uterus? (Why have you lost yours?)
  • I'm going to punch you in the head. (I'm sorry. I knew it was wrong the moment I did it. Try not to leave any marks or bruises.)
  • If anything, he will be a son of a bitch. Bastard doesn't apply, he has a father.
  • I bet Taylor Swift smells like money.
  • She is nice, if you like people with no personality, big hands and a side of nasty.
Feel free to share your Say What?! moments. Sometimes I just sit back and think, this is hilarious! I hope I'm not the only one who has a life like this. You know, the one full of strangeness!

Day 4 - Commenting Challenge

I'm linking with with Jenna for Day 4 of the Commenting Challenge

Today's Topic: Tell us about your hobbies! What do you do in your free time? What are your favorite books, movies, music etc?

I.Love.To.Read! No joke. I easily read 15-20 books a year. I will pretty much read everything that you put in front of me. I enjoy a good romance novel along with crime novels, fiction and non-fiction alike. I could cuddle up with a good book and spend hours and hours reading. Too many nights have rushed by because I'm nose deep into a novel. I've been known to read an entire 3 books series in 3 days, while still working 40+ hours. And although it's 2012, I still prefer a paperback book over my Nook but I'm learning to love the Nook thanks to the computer and phone app.

In my free time, I love spending time with my 19 month old best friend. Yup, I'm nearing 30 and find the most joy spending time with her. Macie is my best friends little girl and let me tell you, she is the best thing EVER! And if I have to hang out with adults, I love spending a night in or out on the town with my husband. He really is the best guy ever, not to mention hilarious! He keeps me in stitches. I also have a really great family and some of the most amazing girlfriends.

If I had it my way, I'd do much more traveling. I'd love to visit every state in the continetial U.S. I hope that we will be able to show Connor our country. Nothing would please me more than seeing the wonder of things through Connor's eyes.

I am hoping that as a SAHM, I can start working a few more hobbies into my life. For example, I'd love to really start cooking more. I'd love to start meal planning and introducing receipes into our menu. I am also looking forward to being able to work on my photography skills. And by work, I mean gain. I have none! Maybe Connor can be my muse. Lastly, I would like to use my Pinterest pins for more than just something to look at. Maybe I can set a goal for one DYI project a month!

Day 3 - Commenting Challenge

I am cutting it close on missing out on Day 3 of this awesome challenge! Thanks to all of you who are now following my blog along with those who have commented. CMC is feeling the love these days - Momma like!

Today's topic: Tell us about your social media! Where can we find you? Link to your twitter, pinterest, Facebook, instagram, or google +. If you don't use those sites, then tell us why not! Also, what are your favorite websites? Are there any that you check daily? What do you like about them?

Looking to get more of me? How nice of you! Since I can't seem to figure out how to link to the different social media outlets I'm a member of, I will just list the ways we can connect:
  • Twitter: JCsgirl_19
  • Pinterest: 1sassycox
  • Facebook: Stephanie Cox
  • Instagram: 1sassycox

I don't use Twitter often but if one of you ladies shared with me how to get the most of it, I am sure I would use it much more! I use Pinterest and Instagram more and more and Facebook is a daily visit for me.

Sites I visit regularly are:
  • www.people.com - I love Hollywood and all the hot mess it brings with it.
  • www.msnbc.com - I have to have a dose of knowledge each day. This keeps me up to speed. My favorite section is the Crime and Courts tab. There are some crazy SOB's out there!
  • www.myfitnesspal.com - Before getting pregnant, I lost 30 pounds with MFP. I love this website and it's free. If you are a member, look me up - username 1sassycox
  • www.hip2save.com - This is my go to place for the best deals on the internet. Colin and her crew make it easy for me to find great deals and save money! And the best part, it's easy to use and share. Check it out!
  • www.thebump.com - this is obvious, right? As a first time Mom, I have LOTS of questions and TB helps tremidiously.
How can I connect with you all? And feel free to share your favorite sites!

So What! Wednesday

It's that time again!! A chance for me to say So What! to a few things:

- if I am totally pumped about Christmas!! (Check out my last post for additional details, you know you want to.) I can't make any promises, but I won't be a pain about it until December.
Well.. not a big pain.

- I am over work this week and can't wait for vacation next week. Nothing sounds more perfect than blue waters, Mister and tan lines!

- if I've given up reading for the summer. I'm just too busy with "life" to enjoy reading right now. I only hope my schedule lightens up some so I can read a few more books for Connor arrives.

- I may have said the following multiple times in the last week: "He is tap dancing on my vagina." This isn't something that is said every day, but I can guarantee you that it's the strangest feeling ever.

- has already lined up a babysitter (my Mom, Mamaw) to watch Connor so I can go and see Breaking Dawn 2 in November. A Momma has priorities. Right??

Now it's your turn to link up with Shannon! Get a few things off your chest!

Commenting Challenge - Day 2

I know this is still Day 1 but because I started a day late, I need to play catch up! Thanks to Jenna, I feel like my blogging juices are flowing! I'm looking forward to finding new blogs to follow and hope those of you who have added me to their reading list enjoy my little part of the blog world.

Today's topic: Tell us about your blog. What do you blog about? Why do you blog? How did you start blogging? What kinds of things do you/are you willing to share with the world? Where do you find your topic inspiration? (Hint: Don't share about your social media just yet!)

I started Creating Mrs. Cox in August 2011. I can't believe it's almost a year. I starting blogging in hopes of documenting my life as wife (the Mrs. part) and the day to day happenings of our family. Mister and I were married in June of 2011 and I knew very little of what it meant to be a wife. I had waited 28 years to marry and I wanted I wanted to give 100% to my husband and our marriage and I starting using blogging as a outlet for what was going on it our world. Sometimes it's not all that exciting but I enjoy sharing my thoughts, feelings and life with our family and friends that are out of town along with the friends I've made through blogging.

As we transition from a family of 2 to a family with a newborn, I hope to use Creating Mrs. Cox to document Connor's life and my new role as a Mommy. Some of my blog post are meant as reminders. I recently had a blog about my Christmas traditions I plan to start this year. Yes, Christmas blogs in June. This is more of a reminder blog for me but some of my followers gave me some great feedback and are now looking forward to the holidays with their little ones.

I am looking forward to finding new blog followers that can help provide advice on parenting and motherhood along with some free therapy (because let's face it, the first few months of parenting are going to be a whole new world for us and a drunk Momma is no good to anyone!).

The 3rd Annutal Blog Commenting Challenge - Day 1

I just came across this great idea when reading Moments with the Mays and although I'm a day behind, I thought I would give it a try.

(for more information on the challenge, visit Jenna's Page here)

Today's topic: Tell us about YOU! What's your name? Where do you live? Who lives with you? Do you work outside the home? Have kids? Pets? (Psst! Don't spill the beans about your blog or hobbies quite yet!).

My name is Stephanie. I'm turning 30 this year and currently pregnant with my first and ONLY child. It's a busy year for sure!! I am a born and raised Buckeye (for those of you out of the Big 10 or with little sports knowledge, that means I'm from Ohio). I live with my husband, James, along with our 7, that's right 7!!, animals - dogs: Sadie, Simon, Tug, Willy and cats: Dexter, Dixie and Rudy.  I currently work for the world's largest IT training company and I love my job (most days). I have been with the company for 5 years and plan to make a graceful exit this fall when our baby boy, Connor, arrives. That's right - I'm trading in the corporate world for the world of SAHM. Which will be a big adjustment for me considering I love working and being part of a team. However, I know that once I "start" my new "job", I will love it much more than the normal 8-5.

Fa La La

In a short 6 months, we will be celebrating Christmas. Yes, that's right CHRISTMAS! And that can only tell you one thing: I'm one of THOSE people. The ones that take the holiday and make a month long occasion (starting on Black Friday). I love the holidays and knowing that in 6 months, we will be celebrating Connor's very first Christmas, I am all the more excited. In preparation of Christmas, I have planned some new family traditions I hope to start this year.

(Warning: this isn't for you Christmas hatin' folks. Although, the fact that you exist blows my mind.)

I want to kick off the holidays by putting up our Christmas tree on Black Friday, while listening to Christmas music. Nothing gets my holiday juices flowing like having our tree up, rocking out to some "Jingle Bells" and "Frosty The Snowman".

I want to give Connor an ornament each year until he leaves home. I want this ornament to mirror his personality, an accomplishment he achieved during the year or something that simply reflects our love for our little one. I want to present this ornament to Connor on December 1, as we count down the days to Christmas Day. Once Connor decides to start his own life, in his own home, I want to be able to present him with each ornament so that he can carry a little piece of his childhood Christmases with him when he goes.

On Christmas Eve, I am going to present James and Connor with a gift to be worn on Christmas morning. Yes, you guessed it: CHRISTMAS PAJAMAS! I can't wait to take a family photo with our Christmas Day pj's on!

This past year everyone was in obsessed with Elf on the Shelf. I never really jumped on board for this but I plan to be a Elf on the Shelf Mom this year, starting on Black Friday. And I have the perfect name for him: Kringle! I am going to document each day (33) that Kringle is here to play. (Enjoy those posts, ladies).

My next tradition is that I want to bake Santa cookies so that when he stops at our home, he can have a little snack. I mean, he has to be hungry from all the work he does, right?! Along with these cookies, I want Santa to leave a note to Connor, letting him know he really has been watching and Mom hasn't been making up the fact that Santa know if he has been naughty or nice. In the beginning, James and I will be doing the writing, but I look forward to sharing these letters with Connor once he is old enough to understand the tradition.

Lastly, I'd love to spend a snowy day wrapping gifts and watching some of my favorite Christmas movies. A few I love are A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

So there are my new Christmas traditions I plan to incorporate into our holiday season this year. As I get the hang of being a Momma, I will find more fun, interesting ways to celebrate the holidays! Do you have holiday traditions you've started with your families or ones that you grew up with?

SWW

I'm hookin' up with Shannon over at LAID for another SWW!

  • if I have yet to make any real progress in Connor's nursery. I have plenty of ideas. I know exactly what theme/colors we are going to use. What I lack is the time.
  • if I think it's okay to tell people that I've gained weight. I mean, hell, I'm pregnant. Which makes it okay for the first time EVER in my life that gaining weight is okay to talk/share/brag about.
  • if I think a few people I work with are lazy shits.
  • if I want it to be Fall, not so that we have Connor and I'm a SAHM, but because it's so damn hot outside already and I hate it. H.A.T.E. Although those first 2 reasons are pretty good ones, too.
  • if I got a little giddy and way too happy when my Dr. told me she loved me because I drink water and exercise as a pregnant women. I am not using being pregnant as an excuse to be a whale. No way, Jose. I'm going straight to MILF status after having this babe.
  •  if I wish I could get some time off work to do whatever, whenever and not have to use PTO or go without pay. Not being a rich, kept wife is a nuisance sometimes, let me tell ya?!
Now, head on over to Shannon's blog and link up for SWW!

Pregnancy Update #3

(Why does my face look so strange?!)

How far are we: 21 weeks and 6 days.

How big is baby: Connor is the size of a pomegranate or about 10.5 inches and 12.7 ounces. I can't believe is almost 1 pound!

Total weight gain: 13.8 pounds. I am hoping to stay around 25-30 pounds but that seems unlikely. However, I have started walking 3-4 nights a week and I start water aerobics in July. I hope being active will help me with the weight gain.

Maternity clothes: I'm wearing all maternity bottoms but my tops are a mix. I am still wearing the same bras. Thank goodness! I don't want bigger ladies!

Stretch marks: NONE! I have been diligent about lotioning up each morning. I hope things stay this way for a while.

Movement: Yes and it's been amazing. I felt Connor move for the first time on 6/11 and James felt him the following day. He seems to be most active after I take my evening walk and shower,a round 9 p.m. I love nights like this. Nothing is more precious than feeling Connor move right before I fall asleep.

Sleep: No problems at all. I usually wake up once to pee (how this will change in the months to come).

Best moment this week: I had a really good appointment with my dr. this morning. I'm concerned about my weight gain since I have a small torso to carry a baby in. However, the dr. reassured me that I'm doing well. I have "perfect" blood pressure, urine tests (strange, right?) and belly measurements. She did tell me to continue to stay active and to try to eat more veggies. She also said I am worried about my weight and I shouldn't be, that I'm thinking about it too much.

Food cravings: Nothing really. I enjoy cold foods over warm/hot. I am actively trying to get more veggies into my diet but I'd rather not each them at all. There are plenty of reasons to eat more of them so I will just "suffer" through.

Labor signs: None and I'd like it to stay that way.

Belly button in or out: In and I think I have a while before it's an outtie.

What I miss: I wish I had the nerve to continue to do Zumba. I loved the burn/sweat from a good hour of Zumba but it's a bit too high impact for me to be doing pregnant. However, once I'm cleared to work out after having Connor, the first place I'm heading is a Zumba meeting!

What I'm looking forward to: James and I are going on our Babymoon at the end of this month. I can't wait to spend a week with just the Mister.

Safe

For the first 20 weeks of my pregnancy, I was so cautious. Almost lazy even. I treated my body, the body that was carrying this little bundle of joy, happiness and hope, like it was so fragile. I wanted nothing more than to be able to ward off any harm that could come my way. I must admit, I may have been a little extreme. I just wanted to do everything I could to make this pregnancy "stick". Let me state that I have no reason to worry about losing the baby other than "normal" pregnancy worries. However, after the rough year we had with the loss of James' Mom, Connie, I wanted this baby more than ever. He/She was going to be our new hope, our new life, our new happiness (no pressure baby).

Today is marks week 21. We now know that we are the parents to a little boy, Connor Ross. We have seen him twice, heard his heartbeat 3 times and James and I have both felt him move. The last 21 weeks have been the most amazing weeks. The amount of love I have for this little person, the size of a carrot, blows me away. I think of him often, almost too much. I wonder who he is going to look like. Will he have his Daddy's beautiful green eyes? Will he have his Momma's tiny nose? Will he follow in his uncle's footsteps and love football? Will he be a typical boy who loves trucks and dirt? Most of all, what wonderful things will he accomplish in his lifetime? As much as I will want him to stay little forever, I can't wait to cheer him on as he takes on life.

He is our little boy, our baby. And we will always want to keep him safe.

So What! Wednesday

This week I'm saying So What! to
  • if I had chocolate milk and chocolate donuts for breakfast this morning. I've done pretty good with eating right and healthy during this pregnancy. Occasionally, I need some a lot of chocolate.
  • if my new after work routine is as follows: dinner, very little housework, evening walk, shower and bed by 9. It's nothing to write home about but I love my evenings. James has even given in to the early bedtimes. I think we both are trying to load up on the sleep before Connor Ross arrives.
  • if I have yet to get the 2nd trimester boost of energy. I'm forcing myself to be much more active during the next 20 weeks of my pregnancy. I was BEYOND lazy the first half.
  • if I have ideas of different posts to write but because I'm in bed by 9 ever night, I NEVER get around to it. I need to start pre-posting. Did I just inventing that word?
  • the fierceness of my pregnancy brain cracks me up! I can't believe it really exist, let alone can effect someone that usually has her shit together 24/7. I can only hope that I give birth and gain my "normal" brain function again. We can only hope!
  • if I like my night routine because after I shower and lay down, I get the chance to feel Connor move. It's amazing and makes me realize that I truly am the "home" of a precious little baby boy!
So now it's your turn to link up with Shannon @ L.A.I.D

Weekend Recap

Some weekends are totally packed full of activities that I often feel like I need to take a Monday off just to get some R&R. This weekend was a mixture of visiting with friends/family, spending the evenings home and getting ready for Connor.

Friday night, we eat dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, the Mexican (along with a busy work week) made us both really sleepy. We laid down for a quick nap at 7:30 with plans to go to the drive-in. I work up at 11:00 p.m., which meant no drive-in. I slept for 12 1/2 hours on Friday night, AMAZING!! I would call that a perfect Friday!

Saturday, I spent the morning walking with my best lady friend and relaxing around the house. James and I went to see Wicked (my anniversary gift to him). It was a fabulous show that I highly recommend. I'm really starting to enjoy musicals. A White Christmas and Mary Poppins are coming to town and I am so there! We ended the evening with dinner with family for Vanessa and Mackenzie's birthdays. Ness is turning 10 and Mac is 11 and taller than me... BOO! It's not really hard to be taller than me, I am 5'1".

Sunday was spent registering for Connor's shower. I can't believe the shower is only 7 weeks away. I feel like we are preparing for something that we have no control over. I know that there are going to be times when I feel like I've been pregnant forever but right now, I can't comprehend there being an end in sight and a baby in our arms. And although we have a due date, we know that can come and go easily! So until then, we are enjoying being a family of 2, being able to come and go as we please and preparing for the arrival of our sweet little boy.

Ramblings

My life has been pretty simple come lately. I work, manage our home (I use the word manage VERY loosely), spend time with friends, family and Mae, keep the Mister happy (not in a wink, wink way, well, maybe a little) and daydream of Connor. With all the madness that is me, there are a few things that I'm loving and looking forward to this month.

Vacation with James. Nothing makes me happier than some alone time with my Baby Daddy! I have the most amazing husband, I do. And if you know him, you know I'm not bragging. He is a good man and the idea of spending a week ALONE with him makes me giggle.

I celebrate the most random things. Need an example?? On June 13, I have been Mt. Dew free for 1 entire year. Doesn't seem like such a big deal, does it? Let's just say the first week I was Mt. Dew free, I lost 8 pounds. Momma liked her Dew! I've drank mostly water and the idea of drinking a Mt. Dew scares me. I'm worried it with torture my insides. (sorry I'm so dramatic on this one. It's a big deal to me).

Christmas is 6 months away come June 25. Yes, I'm one of THOSE people. I can't help it. I love Christmas and all the madness it brings. I love gift giving and receiving gifts. I love getting to spend time with my family and see the happiness that fills the room. I love getting a new Christmas ornament to celebrate another year of James and I being together for the holidays. Now that we get to add Connor to the mix, it's only going to get crazier in our household. I already have plans for Connor's first Christmas. Try not to judge me, mmmkay?

If you made it to this point, God bless you. My ramblings are pointless, the biggest pointless ramblings EVER but I have a lot on my mind these days and enjoy sharing them.

06.05.2012

Exactly one year ago today, I stood in front of you, our families and God and vowed to love and cherish you till death do us part. The promises I made then are promises that I will forever keep.

A year after vowing such deep love and devotion, I stand before you now your wife and the mother of your child. I thought I could never love you more than I did on our wedding day. Boy was I wrong. I fall deeper and deeper in love and know that without a doubt, you are my better half, my soulmate and the one person that I can truly be myself with.  "I'm Yours" today, tomorrow and always.

Happy 1st wedding anniversary, Mr. Cox. I love you!

Anatomy of a Name

Naming a baby is a big responsibility. Like the biggest. I don't have the words to express how important it is to me that my child have a name that means something and is "normal". Not "normal" in boring and plain, but something that they can grow to love and enjoy. A name that they can use if they grow up to be a doctor, lawyer or a teacher. Simply put, something nice.

Growing up, like most girls, I had names I loved. Names that I discovered in books, seen in movies and names that I just thought sounded like a name someone could be proud of. However, I grew up and got married and realized that names like Thorn, although manly, didn't go well with Cox. Neither does Noah. And Savannah, southern and sweet, and Brianna, Brie for short, mean nothing to me now.

As James and I approach our 20 week ultrasound, we had to buckle down on coming up with a name for the baby, boy and girl. I just needed to have a name picked out and ready so that when we left our appointment, I could stop calling the baby Petite and start calling him/her by his/her name. And the following is the anatomy of our baby's name.

For a boy (what I hope for), we choose Connor Ross. Connor is a name I have loved for years and years and although we know a few Connors none are close and it's a name that is dear to both of us. Connor will be named in honor of James' Mom, Connie, who passed away in August 2011. Connor's middle name will be Ross, which is James' middle name. Connor Ross Cox, Momma's boy and Daddy's little buddy.

For a girl (what James is hoping for), we choose Emma Ruth. Emma is the only name James and I could agree on, which worked out perfectly since my Mom LOVES the name Emma and has been asking for a Emma since Cora was born 6 years ago. Ruth is after James' Granny who passed away in 2010. Emma Ruth Cox, Momma's princess and Daddy's sweetheart.

And tomorrow, we will know which name we get to use. I am beyond excited! To keep you company till then, here is a picture of me and Connor/Emma at 19 weeks and 3 days:

Ovey Creations Giveaway

In an effort to take Creating Mrs. Cox to a whole new blogging level, I've teamed up with Jennifer of Ovey Creations to do my very first giveaway.

Jenn photographed our wedding and I will be using her again to do my pregnancy photos this fall. In addition to that, I've also purchased many of her crochet pieces as gifts. • Follow Creating Mrs. Cox
  • Visit Ovey Creation's Facebook page and LIKE them (this is a MUST to enter). Let her know that Stephanie sent you!
  • Visit this post and comment about what piece you would like to have made. This can be something from Overy Creations' website or a true original.
Giveaway is open from June 1 to June 6. Winner will be announced on June 6.
