You Gotta Get With My Friends

I know that without a doubt I have an amazing set of friends. Some of these girls I've known for 24 years. Without my ladies, I would have never made it through high school, heartbreak, moving out on my own and some of the biggest mistakes ever made in human history. In honor of these amazing friends, I'm going to blog about their greatest.

Carey and I have been friends since kindergarten. We have been through more than anyone else and we always come out stronger and stronger. In 2002, Carey was in a horrible car accident that almost took her from us. But thanks to the power of prayer and lots of fight, Carey pulled through, stronger than ever. Carey is the one friend from school that I've kept in touch with. Her friendship is priceless! I might not see Carey as often as I'd like but I love her, tons. And her baby girl Layla!

You all are familiar with Kari, well mostly Kari's little girl Macie. Kari and I meet when we worked together at TR. At the time , pre-Macie, are lives were very similar. Both of us worked yucky retail hours with husbands that work Monday-Friday. Kari and I went to Pizza Hut on our first lunch date and I knew we were meant to be friends. The girl loves Pizza Hut and Mt. Dew just as much as me! We've been through the birth of one baby, a wedding, family loss and later this year, we will share the experience of me bringing my own little one into the world.

Oh Kimmy, how I love you! Kim and I meet when she moved from NY to OH and started working with NH. Kim and I are complete opposites and that had made our friendship one of a kind. Kim is sassy and emotional and open-minded while I'm more reserve and quiet. However, we balance each other out and she refers to me as her life coach because I tend to be able to talk some sense into her from time to time. The ironic part is that when I first meet Kim, I wasn't a fan. But I quickly learn you can't judge a book by it's cover. Kim has 2 kids, Nick and Maggie, and the coolest parents, Joe and MaryAnn, and they are like a second family.

I meet Kristin in 2001 when my boyfriend cheated on me with her. Yes, you read that right. Of course, she didn't know the douche bag had a girlfriend. She apologized over and over, even got me an I'm sorry card. I felt so bad that she had got wrapped up in our mess that I forgave her quickly and almost 11 years later we are the best of friends. Kristin and I both got married last year and we've shared so many ups and downs that we have the strongest bond. Sometimes we lose touch for a few but lately, we've been much closer. I guess the older you get the more you value a good friendship. If I could get the girl to move closer to me, it would be a perfect world.

Oh Sarah, how I love you! Sarah and I meet through mutual friends in 2004. It was Valentine's Day and I was an emotional wreck and although we didn't hit it off right away, we quickly learned that our bitchiness and attitude had found it's match. After that, we were inseparable. Sarah is the only girl I've ever lived with and although we have our differences, Sarah and I have really been there for each other more than any other friend. Sarah and I had a falling out in 2006 but a few years later realized we needed each other and we've been friends since. We joke that that was our breakup but we just couldn't quit each other.

Tracy and I meet when she was promoted to Kristin's aunt's position at the PD. Tracy is such an amazing person. She has the heart of gold and would do anything for her friends and family. She appreciates the same finer things in life that I do, everything Jersey! I see Trace about once a month but regardless, it's like we just saw each other the day before. Just this passed Saturday, we spend the evening chatting, looking over her vacation photos and watching our favorite show, Revenge. And I can't forget to mention, she has the most adorable home. When James and I move, I'm going to hire Tracy has my interior decorator, she is that good!

Some friendships come and go but I know without a doubt that I will always have this ladies in my life. Each of them bring something into my word and can never be replaced. I'm very blessed to have meet these girls.

Downside to Blogging

Creating Mrs. Cox is my space, my platform to say what I want and think freely. I get to document my life as a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, wife and soon to be Mommy. However, that's not exactly what I'm getting from my blog. Let me explain. I love blogging. LOVE! I have gotten to know a few other ladies that have taught me a thing or two about life, marriage and parenting. As much as I've gained from blogging, I also feel that because I blog and it's public and friends and family read it, I can only be so frank. I can't bitch, moan or complain about work, my coworkers read this. If one of my girlfriends annoy me, I can't share that here, she may read it. And God forbid, I want to shank James, I can't broadcast it here. I am not on able to be real, really real, which is exactly what I had hoped for when I started to blog.

Let me state that I have great coworkers, amazing girlfriends and the world's best husband. In general, I have a really fabulous life. As of now there isn't anything I'd like to share but sometimes things happen and I wish I could vent and share my feelings and I can't. It would be nice to spill my feelings into a blog post, hit publish and walk away. Sometimes, I don't need any ones advice, I just need to blow some smoke. But I'm not confrontational at all. I'm so laid back and go with the flow that I tend not to share when I'm angry, upset or plain pissed. I would like to be able to have an outlet for said feelings.

I guess I should break out the diary...

My Guilty Pleasures

We all have them. Some our expensive, exotic or even illegal. Mine? None of the above. Nothing gets me more excited than reality television and the trashier the show, the more I crave it. It's my own drug. It hurts no one and I can pass a drug screening 24/7. So without hesitation, I'll let you into my little world of trash. Welcome to Stephanie's Jersey obsession!

Mob Wives - these ladies are fierce and if I had to choose between a fight with a wild black bear or Drita, I take my chances with the bear. Seriously. Mob Wives follows the lives of 6 Staten Island women who have ties to the Mafia, be it their fathers or husbands. Renee, Drita, Karen, Carla, Romona and the mother of all that is Jersey, Big Ang, grace my life once a week and it's pure bliss. Each lady knows what she is up against being tied to the Mafia but they stick by their men (a cheating Lee and a rat Junior) no matter what.

Housewives of New Jersey - this has to be the one reality show that I truly can not live without. Sad, right? NO! These ladies bring sass, style and drama to my life. Teresa, Caroline (my favorite), Jacqueline, Melissa and Kathy are all women who value family, friendship (sometimes, right Teresa?) and their upscale New Jersey roots. There is always, always someone pissed off at someone else and this new season, number 4, is no exception. Theresa, author of Skinny Italian, has pushed everyones buttons for the last time with what she wrote in her cookbook. Who knew trash talking your frirends and family made your food taste better. Ah, the things I learn from my girls on the East coast. There is always chaos and fighting (especially on the reunion shows) and it reminds me that no matter how much money someone has or if they are (in)famous, they are human and deal with the same problems you and I have. (You and I, however, never have their problems - Prada or Gucci? - bitches!)

The Jersey Shore - you didn't really think I was going to leave this little gem out? This is by far the most ridiculous show on television. I'm almost too proud to watch it but I can't say I love everything Jersey if I leave off the fist pumping guidos, Pauly, Mike "The Situation", Ronnie and Vinny and  and guidettes Snooki, Deena, Sammy and J-Woww. There is nothing redeeming about this show or the people on it. They are a mess. A hot tan Italian mess. Each week, I get to relive the Spring breaks many high school and college kids went on that I never experienced. They drink, dance, party, smoosh and keep the taxi businesses at the Jersey Shore in business.

I'm sure I've now sold you on my Jersey shows but if not, that's okay. More Italian madness for me! What reality shows do you love that you should really be hating? You can tell me, clearly, I have no standards!

Brain Dump

It's Wednesday and usually I would link up with Life After I "Dew" for a So What! Wednesday but instead I'm going to indulge you all with a pregnant gal's brain dump!

  • James and I have picked out one girl name and one boy name and I'm so friggin' pump, I can't stand it. I just need the first week of June to come so I can share with the world what our baby's sex is and what his/her name will be.
  • I went to the dr. yesterday for my 2nd appointment and I'm pretty impressed that I've only gained 6 pounds in 14 weeks. I was sure the dr. was going to say something about it because I feel like I look like I've gained a ton but I guess not. But I've told myself to start making better decisions when it comes to meals. I mean, seriously, no one should EVER have spaghetti 6 times in 7 days. I should be ashamed of myself but I'm not. All I can think about it how when James goes out of town this weekend, I may have spaghetti for dinner both nights. PS - I also think it's strange that only when you are pregnant it's okay to share and talk about how much weight you've gained.
  • We are going to go on a babymoon the first week of July. I would love to go on a cruise but James is worried that I might need medical attention and it could be hard to come by in the middle of the ocean.
  • I am sponsoring First Name Smith in May, June and July and I'm so geeked about it. I love Kristen's blog - her words of wisdom, the number of times she drops a big ol' F-bomb here and there and her dislike of Miley. I can't stand her either. Bitch drives me nuts.
  • I've compiled a to-do list for things I want to work on around the house before Petite arrives and let me tell you, if my ass doesn't get to work like yesterday, it's never going to get done. Note to self: start tonight.
So I'm wondering, what was your weight gain like in the first trimester? Where did you and the Mister go on a babymoon to? What kind of task should I add to my to-do list? I need to make sure we are prepared!!

Pregnancy Update #1

Today I am 12 weeks and 6 days. And tomorrow I will be 13 weeks and almost out of the first trimester. I've already learned that even math and weekly configurations change when you are pregnant. I don't have a picture to share because I don't look pregnant. At all. And I have my already thick middle to thank for that. Us chubby ladies don't show as early as you thin bitches girls do! But once I am showing, I will include a picture. Not so much for you (you are welcome) or me, but for Baby Cox when he or she reads Momma's blog. But till then, here is a bit of information about my pregnancy so far:

Due date: October 24, 2012 but I would love to have the baby on October 30, 2012. Yes, you read that right, 6 days late is what I'm hoping for. My amazing MIL was born on October 30 and because the baby won't get the chance to know Connie, I would love for them to share birthdays.
Planned or Unplanned: Planned pregnancy but totally unprepared for how quickly we would become pregnant. We tried for 1 month. That's it. And as we all know there are only so many days in a month that you are actually able to get pregnant so I would say James and I did a damn good job!
Weight Gain: I go back to the dr. next week and will now for sure what I've gained but as of when I went to the dr. the first time, I was down 6 pounds. However, I'm a bottomless pit as of late so I'm sure I will have gain a pound or ton.
Cravings: I haven't had any cravings but I have had spaghetti for dinner 3 times in 6 days. But I love spaghetti and anything Italian so I'm not sure if it's a craving or me being a carb slut.
Names: We haven't narrowed anything down. We decided not to think too much about picking a name this early. We are going to decide once we know the sex, which should be on or around May 22! Holy smokes!
Worst thing about being pregnant: I'm breaking out. I'm 29 and shouldn't be dealing with this but thanks to my out of control and over dramatic hormones, I am.
Best thing about being pregnant: Creating a life. I'm doing this. On my own. No one else is protecting, nourishing or providing for this baby. Yes, me and the Mister spent some magical times together but for the duration of this pregnancy, it's me and this babe. It's surreal.
Last time you cried: Friday. I had had a long week and needed to have a poor Stephanie moment. Once I did, I felt fine. Every once in a while a good cry makes everything better. Pregnant or not!
Words of wisdom: I'm still in my first trimester for another week so what do I know!? But I keep telling myself that if the chicks on 16 & Pregnant can do it, I can. I have this amazing husband and father and together we are going to make parenting look like a walk in the park. I'm going to have time for crafts and baking and I may even take up knitting. WHO THE HELL AM I KIDDING? I will be lucky if I can shower every day!

Happy 3rd Birthday Will!

Three years ago today, my family was blessed with this amazing little man - William Robert or just simply Will (yes, I realize his name could also be Billy Bob, I didn't pick his name, THANK YOU VERY MUCH). Will is the sweetest guy ever and gives the best hugs. Each time I see him, he hugs me and puts his face right up to mine and we smoosh cheeks. Will has the sweetest voice and he is brutally honest. Every time I call him or see him, the first thing out of his mouth is that he has been a bad/good boy, usually more bad than good. Like most boys, he is also getting into something and that's okay with me, boys are "cool" that way. And without a doubt, he loves his Uncle Chester more than anyone else. He gets so excited when Chester comes home from IC. Will, Aunt Stephie loves you and I love watching you grow and grow. You are bright, funny and so handsome. Stay little for a while longer for me, okay?

Weekend Recap

This weekend went by so quickly but then again all weekends tend to race by when you look forward to them as much as I do.

Friday night, James and I had to get the babies (Jordan, Vanessa, Cora, Will and Macie) Easter baskets. Yes, we are those people. The ones that provide loads and loads of candy to your children, get them on a sugar high like no other and then head home. It's great being an aunt and uncle! Oh and let me tell you, you can tell James and I aren't parents just yet because who in the right mind goes Easter basket shopping the Friday before Easter. The aisles were out of control and candy/bunnies/shit were thrown and tossed everywhere. Needless to say, James and I grab what we needed (a bit extra, actually) and headed home, glad to be in one piece. Note to self: NEVER MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN!

Saturday, James and I had breakfast out and it was so nice to sit across Baby Daddy - HA! and just enjoy his company. I love James. A lot. More and more with each passing day. He is the best thing ever, the cat's meow and no matter what we are doing, I love just being with him. WOW! Where did that come from? Let's blame in on the hormones, mmkay? After breakfast, I got ready for Layla Ann's birthday party. Layla's Momma is Carey. We've been friends for 24 years. She is truly the longest tenured friend I have and we've been through so much. Regardless of how little or much time we see each, I love Carey. She's my Care Bear. That should tell you how long we go back! 1980's, what up!

Saturday night we travelled to the Hills to visit my parents, brothers and the babes. I don't see my family nearly enough but the time I do spend with them is always special. Especially when I get greeted with the best hug ever by Will. The kids enjoyed their baskets and hunting for Easter eggs and I spent time talking with Momma and my brother's girlfriend. A little girl chat does a body/soul good.

Sunday was spent relaxing and enjoying my husband's company. We had a late lunch/dinner and then visited with M.K.M and I can't wait to share the pictures I got of Mae in her Easter dress. It's time like these that I hope the babe I'm growing is a girl, she is just that adorable!

Since Sunday was so pretty out, we made a trip to the park. I'm a little sad to admit that MJ is 16 months old and this is the first time I've been to the park with her... bad Aunt TeTe! But with summer fast approaching, I have made it my goal to spend more days outside with Mae.

So What! Wednesday

This week I'm linking up with  Shannon  for another So What! Wednesday...
  • So What! if I am determined to wear my normal work pants for as long as possible during my pregnancy. I am so frugal such a tight wad that I want to make my wardrobe last and last. I am 11 weeks today and I feel like if I can wear my current work pants through my entire first trimester, I am a success.
  • So What! if I want to stab people in the throat each time they bring up their love/hate for President Obama. Everyone is in titled to their opinion but damn, it's too early for this! It's April, which means 7 more months of this political bullshit.
  • So What! if I dropped two unladylike words in my last So What! bullet point. Sometimes, even laid back, go with the flow Stephanie gets worked up.
  • So What! if I went the entire month of March without going to the grocery store. I should be embarrassed by this but in fact, I'm actually impressed!
  • So What! if I am over trying to name the baby. I know, I know, I have at least 29 more weeks but I thought James and I could pick one boy and one girl name, preparing us for our 20 week appointment. Apparently not. So I've given up till we find out what we are having. Then, let the name game begin!
  • So What! if our bathroom STILL ISN'T FINISHED! On Monday night, the sink leaked and last night, the toilet is leaking through to our dining room. FML, actually F James' life. Poor guy.
  • So What! if tomorrow is opening day for baseball and I could care less. I'm a pigskin kind of girl!
Head over to Shannon's page and link up, all the cool kids are doing it! (Peer pressure is a bitch, huh?)

Love At First Sight!

This little bundle of joy has given me the true understanding of love at first sight. Who would have thought that something so small, just 3.5 inches, could capture my heart. I keep looking at James and telling him, we are having a baby! He just smiles back and tells me he isn't scared or worried, while all I can think about is how important my role is in this baby's development and growth. But for now, I'm going to enjoy every moment. For example, in my world right now, there is nothing more amazing then seeing your baby for the very first time. In a little less than 30 weeks, I am going to be holding this little miracle in my arms. I am going to be close to 30, a wife and a mother. I am blessed beyond measure. Momma loves you Petite and I can't wait to meet you!
